What is Heel Pain / Plantar Fasciitis?
Heel pain is a widespread complaint that can occur due to various reasons, with plantar fasciitis being one of the most common causes. It typically manifests as a sharp, intense pain that is usually felt on the underside of the heel and often most severe with the first steps of the day or after a period of rest.
What are the symptoms of heel pain and plantar fasciitis?
- Sharp, stabbing pain in the bottom of your foot near the heel, which can be constant or vary with activities.
- Pain that is usually worse in the morning when you take your first steps out of bed, or after long periods of standing or sitting
- Pain that typically decreases with movement but might return after long periods on your feet
